Harvest now, decrypt later: time to prepare for post-quantum cryptography

Data intercepted today could be decrypted by future quantum computers. Organisations that keep data secret for years should start inventorying their cryptography.

Harvest now, decrypt later: ถึงเวลาเตรียมย้ายสู่ Post-Quantum Cryptography

NIST’s post-quantum cryptography standards are published and browser and OS vendors have begun to support them. Organisations holding data that must stay confidential for years, such as health, financial and national-security data, should start planning now.

What to do

  • Build a cryptographic inventory of which systems use which algorithms
  • Prefer vendors with a PQC roadmap
  • Design for crypto agility so algorithms can be swapped easily
